Anti-bullying Speaker, Gabriel Ford, Speaks Out Against School Bullying

Troy & Daily News - Front Page 3-26-07

Twenty-eight-year-old Gabriel Ford is an extremely moving youth speaker for classes, school assemblies and youth conferences. Her message is simple, however, powerfully motivational. Her ability to connect with students will inspire them and cause them to think about their actions. Suffering from progressive neuromuscular disease, Gabe, shares her remarkable story of her experiences of being bullied at school while suffering from the effects of muscle disease.

Gabe, along with her dog, Izzy, who also suffers from a muscle disease, shares her personal experiences and the effects of bullying. Students will be forever affected by her amazing story. A letter from a male student shared how he had bullied classmates, but had no idea the affect it had on them. He stated, “Never again, will I bully anyone.” For more, please see: School Bullying & School Violence Youth Speaker

"Our children have become more aware of bullying situations and what bullying does to the children being bullied. They are making adults more aware of exactly who our bullies are and even these situations are occurring less frequently. We are definitely seeing a change. The children were very touched by Gabe and Izzy's story and are still talking about them, even bringing up stories from their own experiences. It is very apparent in our discussions that Gabe left the children with a lasting impression. We are so thankful for Gabe".

"I have been teaching students about bullying for the last six years and never have I seen students more touched by a personal story than since Gabe's visit. Our students fell in love with Izzy and are still talking about the situation two weeks after the assembly. Not only have the children learned the effects of bullying, but understand the need for change. Thanks so much Gabe and Izzy! ! !"
